Garden City Schools Revise Attendance Policy
The Garden City Board of Education passed a motion to revise the district's attendance policy at their May 20 meeting. The new policy is more detailed than the previous one, according to officials, and the crowd at the meeting had mixed reactions regarding it.

Residents Approve $66M Spending Plan
By a vote of 1,736 to 1,138, Garden City residents passed a $66,497,128 school budget for the 2002-03 academic year on Tuesday, May 21. The budget is a 14.73% increase from the previous budget of $61,287,626. Board President Ken Monaghan, who ran unopposed, was elected to a three-year term as trustee. He received 1,779 votes.

Registration for boys fall intramural soccer has begun. Play is for those boys who will be in kindergarten through sixth grade in the fall. All clinics and games will be held on Saturday afternoons beginning Sept. 7, through early November 2002.

Recreation Department News
The recreation dept. will run a summer tennis camp for children aged 7 years and up and who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. This camp will be held at the Community Park Tennis Facility. The sessions will run according to the following age groups: 7 and 8 years, 9 through 11 years and 12 years or older. The age of the child at the start of the session will determine which session the child may attend. This instructional program will be conducted in two-hour sessions. Each child may sign up for a maximum of two sessions. The dates, times and fees are as follows:
