Mariann Suesser, 66, formerly of Garden City, died on March 16, 2002. She was active in the Garden City Community Church as church officer and she assisted in the nursery school. She was president of the Women's Auxiliary and she hosted the Twigs Bridge meetings. After moving to New Suffolk, she became a Cornell Master Gardener. She was also a quiltmaker.
George A. Coroon, 88, of Atlantis, FL, and Garden City, died on March 16, 2002. He was born in Brooklyn on July 4, 1913, son of the late Richard A. and Margaret Teaken Corroon. A WWII veteran serving in the Pacific, he was the founder of Corroon and Black Corp., international insurance brokers and he was a member of the NY Stock Exchange. He was a founding partner of Corroon, Lichtenstein and Co. Husband of the late Glady (Durand). Father of Carol Corroon Pratt and George A. Corroon Jr. Grandfather of Courtney Carroon-Haggerty, George A. Carroon III, James J. Pratt III, Cathleen Pratt Williams and Thomas Pratt. Great-grandfather of Joseph Williams III, Sean Williams, Jack Brownett, J.P. Pratt, Michael Pratt, Brian Pratt, Ashely Pratt, T.J. Pratt and C. Teaken Haggerty. Brother of Claire Shields and John A. Corroon Jr. Arrangements were made by Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, Garden City. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Arthur D. Haggerty, 76, of Garden City, died peacefully on March 20, 2002. He was a psychologist and stress/chronic pain management specialist. Much loved father of Donna McCarthy, Mark Haggerty, Lynne Hawes and Gayle Poggi. He was predeceased by his wife Constance. Grandfather of Dylan, Kyle, Alexandra, Fallon, Olivia, Elizabeth, Sean, Sophia, Natalie, Kelsey, Meghan and Terrance. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Floral Park. Interment Arlington National Cemetery.
