At Swing for Kids XI (SFK), the annual golf and tennis tournament, Tilles Center for the Performing Arts honors Garden City resident Charles Strain, managing partner of Farrell Fritz, P.C., one of Long Island's largest full service law firms.
SFK XI takes place Monday, June 10 at the Meadow Brook Club in Jericho and The Creek in Locust Valley. Since its inception 11 years ago, all funds raised at SFK have benefited arts education programs at Tilles Center. As a result of these successful tournaments, Tilles Center has been able to regularly expand its services to Long Island school districts and school children. During the current season, more than 20 live, daytime performances for school audiences are being presented.
Strain's career at Farrell Fritz, P.C. has paralleled the firm's growth from 16 attorneys in 1984 to more than 200 employees today. Those years have also seen a rapid expansion of the firm's range of legal services to clients throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Prior to joining Farrell Fritz, Strain had set up the in-house legal department of a large commercial bank, an experience that taught him how to successfully advocate on behalf of clients. This is an ability that he continues to put into play as Farrell Fritz's managing partner, a position he was elected to in 2001.
A leader also in the civic and philanthropic communities, Strain is a member of the executive council of the Tilles Center Council of Overseers, a regent for Winthrop-University Hospital and serves on the board of the Family and Children's Association. He has been honored for his service to Winthrop, the Family Service Association and the Leukemia Society of America. A native Long Islander, Strain lives in Garden City with his wife, Denise, and their two daughters, Caitlin and Alicia. Denise Strain is a tax attorney.
