Mary A. Klingel, formerly of New Hyde Park and Stewart Manor, died on Feb. 20, 2002. Wife of John F. Mother and mother-in-law of Fr. John and Peggy Klingel and James and Donna Klingel. Sister of Thomas and the late William and James Livingston. Grandmother of Nilus, Juliana, Anastasia and Zarus. Arrangements were made by the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home, Southold. Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's RC Church. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery. Charles Patrick Ryan Jr., 63, of Garden City, died on Feb. 20, 2002. Husband of the late Cecily. Father of Shannon, Elizabeth, Catherine and Margaret. Father-in-law of Kevin O'Donnell and Christian Oliver. Grandfather of Quinn. Brother of Michael, Cathleen, Eileen, John and Kevin. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Marks. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Chapel, Garden City. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Garden City Unit.

James P. Mahoney died on March 4, 2002. He was born in NYC, a son of Agnes and James P. Mahoney Sr. Jim commuted to Xavier, a Jesuit high school in NYC, from his home in Garden City, where his family lived since he was 4 years old. He graduated from Garden City High School and was named "the most humorous boy" in the Class of 1955. He attended Bonaventure University, a Franciscan educational institution in upstate NY, before enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1957. He served as a corporal and saw action in Lebanon in the late '50s.

A lifelong bachelor Jim was an equity trader on Wall Street before moving to the East End in the early '80s. A 20-year employee of Merrill Lynch, Mr. Mahoney was very proud to be name vice president in the '90s.

On March 3, he was welcomed into eternal life. A prayer service was conducted at Williams Funeral Home by Deacon George B. Logan of Most Holy Trinity Church on March 4, his 64th birthday. Burial followed the next day at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery in his beloved East Hampton. There will be a Memorial Mass offered for Jim's intentions at a later date.

A younger brother, Terry, predeceased him three years ago. His survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Jerry Johnson of Washington, NC; and a niece and nephew of McLean,VA. Donations can be sent to Xavier High School, Scholarship and Endowment Fund, 30 W. 16th St., New York, NY 10011-6302, in Jim's memory.
