The recreation department will again hold another sixth-grade "Rec Night" Friday, Feb. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the St. Paul's field house. Admission will be $4 and there will be a nominal charge for snacks. The recreation staff will supervise this night.
Please note once children enter the building, they will not be allowed to leave unless accompanied by an adult. All adults must come into the building to retrieve their children.
On Sunday, Feb. 10, the recreation department will present the National Circus Project in Cluett Hall at St. Paul's. This two-act show will start at 2 p.m. At intermission, hot dogs, soda and snacks will be served. Admission to the show is $4 per person and advance reservations are required. To reserve a seat call the office at 465-4075 by Thursday, Feb. 7.
Not sure what to do during the winter months? The Recreation Department has ongoing programs open to residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. There are no sign-ups necessary for the following programs, though proof of residency is needed. All programs are held in the field house at St. Paul's unless otherwise noted.
For everyone: Family Fun Time on Sundays from 12-3:30 p.m.
For children Grades 3-6: Chess club on Saturdays from 12-2 p.m. This program is held at the GC Library.
For boys in Grades 3-5: Organized games and activities supervised by the recreational staff on Mondays from 3:30-6 p.m.
For girls in Grades 3-5: Organized games and activities supervised by the recreational staff on Fridays from 3:30-6 p.m.
For students in Grades 6-8: Open gym every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
For students in Grades 9-12: Open gym every Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
For Adults: Co-ed volleyball every Thursday from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
For Adult Women: Open basketball every Thursday from 7:30-10 p.m.
For Adult Men: Open basketball every Monday and Wednesday from 7:30-10 p.m.
For Adult Men Over 30: Open basketball every Tuesday from 7:30-10 p.m.
For Adult Men Over 40: Open basketball every Monday and Wednesday from 7:30-10 p.m.

A new dance class is forming for teens in fifth grade and up. The class will be an intermediate/advanced ballet class. Taught by Felicia Lovaglia-Donohue, the class will be held on Thursdays at 3:30 starting Feb. 7. All dance classes are held in Cluett Hall at the St. Paul's building. The class will run 10 weeks and cost $60. To register, please follow the instructions listed in the dance article below. Use the code "2BALLET" when listing the class preferred. It is not too late to sign up for the third session of children's tennis lessons, being held at the new Community Park Tennis Facility. There are still openings at each level. Classes are slated to start the week of Feb. 24. All open classes are listed below.
