Demolition Finally Begins on Former St. Mary's School Property
After much delay, demolition finally began late last month on Cathedral Avenue, between Fourth and Fifth Streets, on the property formerly known as St. Mary's. The Konner Development Corporation of Bridgehampton bought the land from The Cathedral of the Incarnation for an undisclosed amount of money this past summer. Eight new "traditional Garden City homes" will replace the longtime vacant school for girls, a building that had become somewhat of an eyesore in the village.

Moving Van Doesn't Clear Cherry Valley Ave. Overpass
A Verity Van Lines moving truck, transporting various pieces of furniture, didn't quite clear the Cherry Valley Avenue overpass last Monday afternoon, causing a portion of the road to be closed for hours.

The Garden City USTA Junior Tennis Team had their first match of the season Nov. 18 against Malverne. Garden City teens ranging in age from 11-17 did a great job representing their team with a 5-0 victory. Playing for Garden City were Tim Garger, Dan Lisoski, Scott Santini, Chris Rotella, Greg O'Donnell, Ryan Joyce, Melissa Pashayan, Laura Norcini and Marissa Giamo. The doubles team of Laura and Melissa won with a score of 4-0. Tim and Danny were victorious in doubles play with a score of 4-2. Laura, Scott, Ryan and Melissa all won their singles matches.
