Cathedral of the Incarnation Receives $25,000 Restoration Grant
Garden City's Cathedral of the Incarnation, ranked with the Jones Beach water tower and the Roslyn clock as a Nassau County icon, is one of seven churches to receive restoration grants as part of the $1 million Robert W. Wilson Sacred Sites Challenge, according to the New York Landmarks Conservancy.

Displaying 'God Bless America' Signs in Public Schools
In the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the posting of "God Bless America" signs in public school buildings has become somewhat of a controversy. Some believe it's an opportunity to unite in patriotism while others firmly say it's an obvious violation of church vs. state. Expanding on that belief, some further feel that religion and patriotism should not be intermixed.

Recreation Department News
With the cooperation of Adelphi University, arrangements have been made to allow adult village residents the use of Adelphi's indoor swimming pool as part of the Recreation Department's programs. One-hour swim sessions are available at 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. every Monday through Thursday. Adult residents wishing to take advantage of this program can sign up for a one-hour session by calling the Rec Department at 465-4075 before 3 p.m. on the day they wish to swim.

Meg Sullivan was one of only eight girls in Nassau County to win the prestigious Women's Sports Foundation Award. Sullivan received her award at the 22nd annual Salute to Women in Sports Award Banquet Oct. 15 at the Waldorf Astoria.
