Family Relief Fund Benefit Takes Shape
The Breeder's Cup Garden City Community Fund - Family Relief Fund Benefit, scheduled to take place Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Paul's Field House, is taking shape. The fund has gotten an overwhelming community response, raising over $50,000 to date. Established specifically to benefit Garden City families affected by the Sept. 11 tragedy, the fund's Oct. 26 benefit is expected to raise over $100,000. A silent auction of many donated items will also add to money raised that evening.
Adelphi's Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline, Support Program Celebrates 20 Years
Breast cancer survivors helped the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program, which started out with only a telephone, an empty room and an interested student, fete its 20th anniversary last Wednesday, Oct. 3, during a "celebration of survivorship" at Adelphi's University Center in Garden City. The event welcomed a panel of extraordinary women who shared stories of their own personal battles with the disease and what enabled them to move forward.

The Adult recreational basketball program will begin Monday, Oct. 15 in the St. Paul's field house. These programs are for Inc. Village of Garden City residents only. All participants will be required to register upon entering St. Paul's and picture ID will be needed to enter the programs. Participants must be college aged or older. All sessions run from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Any questions about the programs please call the Recreation Office at 465-4075.
