An Economic Boost During Difficult Times
The building, located at 501 Franklin Avenue, has been a village landmark since 1910 when Theodore Roosevelt first laid its cornerstone. It was originally the home of Doubleday and a fitting homage to England's Hampton Court.

The Garden City Community Fund - Family Relief Fund, which was established specifically to benefit Garden City families affected by the Sept. 11 tragedy, has received overwhelming support from residents and businesses, Bob Cole, immediate past president, Garden City Community Fund (GCCF), said. To date, almost $50,000 has been raised.

Recreation Department News
There are still openings available in the Monday and Thursday preschool arts and crafts classes. These classes are held at St. Paul's Cluett Hall and are 45 minutes long. Children who reside in Garden City and are 3 1/2 to 5 years old are eligible. Come to the Recreation Dept. at Village Hall or call 465-4065 for more information. Classes started Monday, Sept. 17.

Students at Charles Water Karate & Fitness recently enjoyed using their focus, concentration and balance with a new challenge. Beach Ball Day was an innovative idea for students to test the skills that they have been developing in their training. The curriculum did not change however part of the class utilized a beach ball, working on partner techniques.
