Retired GC History Teacher Killed on Jericho
A former Garden City High School history teacher was killed late last month when he was struck by a minivan at 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, as he attempted to cross Jericho Turnpike at Sagamore Avenue after buying groceries at King Kullen, police said.

Locomotive #35 Leaves Garden City
Built in 1928 by the Pennsylvania Railroad Altoona Shops, Locomotive #35 relocated last Thursday from Garden City's Mitchel Field to Oyster Bay. The engine will be the centerpiece of a new Oyster Bay railroad museum that will focus on Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) history and its impact on the hamlet.

Attention Garden City Lax Players
Please consider donating any used lacrosse equipment to the Brooklyn Admirals Lacrosse Program. Started back in 1999, the program encourages inner city youth to get involved in lacrosse. Lacrosse equipment tends to be expensive and many of these children cannot play because they don't have the proper tools like helmets, pads, sticks and gloves. Goodman to Compete at World University Games in Beijing
Kevin Goodman, Adelphi University graduate student and last season's co-captain of the University's championship basketball team, has earned a spot on Great Britain's World University Team, which will participate in the World University Games 2001 in Beijing Aug. 22 through Sept. 1.
