Summer ball provides children a chance to play baseball during the summer months of July and August. Leagues are separated into three age groups of 8, 9/10 and 11/12 years olds (age as of 7/31/01) They strive to schedule two games per week on weekday evenings exclusively (in almost all cases, depending upon field availability) between Garden City teams and teams from other local towns. The anticipated season start date is July 16 running through the end of August. Team sizes are larger anticipating participation in other summer activities (camps, vacations, etc.) Deadline for open registration is June 15. Applications are available at the GC Recreation Office, St. Paul's or one may print from the website at www.gc-aa.com/baseballapplications.htm. The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club, Garden City Rams Lacrosse and the Garden City Athletic Association met to establish a cooperative group together with Garden City resident Dr. Joe Pando of Sports Psychology Consulting. The objective of the group is to define and communicate appropriate goals, objectives and model behavior for coaches and parents, believing that if we all strive to achieve these goals and keep youth sports in the proper perspective, it will benefit the children, coaches and parents in all programs. Please take a moment to read this which can be found on our website at www.gc-aa.com/gcsc.htm. Friday, June 22, open to all players in the Central and Major Leagues.
