The varsity lacrosse team visited East Sandwich, Massachusetts, during spring recess. After playing a successful LAX game, the team had the opportunity to meet a long time Garden City lacrosse follower and dedicated fan - Walter Gallagher, Jr. Gallagher and his family were Garden City residents for many years before moving to East Sandwich. His two sons, Michael and the late Jay, played Garden City lacrosse. While at Cornell, Jay was captain of their team. The annual Garden City Lacrosse Alumni Game is dedicated to the memory of Jay Gallagher. The Gallagher tradition with lacrosse has a history.
