Board Considers Property Condemnation for Parking
Garden City Village Mayor Robert Lewis, announcing that as of yet the board has not been successful in negotiating a price for the easterly 100 feet of 114 Sixth Street, from the Gardner estate, asked village counsel to explain the procedure of condemnation in case those negotiations are not successful. Upon learning that the first step in this procedure is a public hearing, the board set a hearing for June 7 to consider this action.

Garden City Varsity Lacrosse Team Honors Walter Gallagher Jr.
The varsity lacrosse team visited East Sandwich, Massachusetts, during spring recess. After playing a successful LAX game, the team had the opportunity to meet a long time Garden City lacrosse follower and dedicated fan - Walter Gallagher, Jr. Gallagher and his family were Garden City residents for many years before moving to East Sandwich. His two sons, Michael and the late Jay, played Garden City lacrosse. While at Cornell, Jay was captain of their team. The annual Garden City Lacrosse Alumni Game is dedicated to the memory of Jay Gallagher. The Gallagher tradition with lacrosse has a history.
Garden City Recreation News
The Recreation Department offers several camps during the summer months, including camps in baseball, basketball, lacrosse and soccer. These "sport camps" are designed for youngsters ages 6 and up, as detailed in each camp's registration information.
