Winfred J. Bloom Jr., 82, formerly of Garden City, died recently. He was born in Brooklyn, attended NYC Public Schools and graduated from Rutgers University. He was in the construction industry, first with Pleasantville Contractors Inc. as chief accountant, then at Raymond Concrete Pile Co. as accounting manager. He was treasurer and became the company's vice president of finance in 1964. He later became the vice president and treasurer of Spearin, Preston and Burrows, Inc., a waterfront construction company. In Garden City he was a Scoutmaster, Little League coach and a member of the Cherry Valley Club. He was a member of the Garden City Community Church. Husband of Lily (Murphy). Father of Colby, Janet Powers and Kathryn Gross. Grandfather of six. Great-grandfather of two. Funeral in New Hampshire.
