Tryouts for a 13-year old team will be held on Sunday, April 29 at 2 p.m. at Community Park Field 4. This team will play a 30 game schedule in June and July against other Long Island teams. For more details please contact Ed Thomas at 741-0744. Applications for youth umpires for baseball (in the 8/9-year old divisions) and Softball (in the 2nd/3rd grade divisions) are still being accepted. Candidates must be 13 or over. Applications may be picked up at the GC recreation office or can be printed off the GCAA website at: http://www.gc-aa.com/umpireapp.htm.

Some tickets are still available for GCAA Night at the LI Ducks is Saturday, June 16 at 7 p.m. at Suffolk County Sports Park. The GCAA has reserved 275 tickets for this game, each ticket is priced at $8. Ticket reservations are on a first come first serve basis, limited to 10 a family. The tickets will be mailed during the first week of June. Please include with your check a letter which states your name, mailing address, phone, email address. Transportation will not be provided.

Open registration for the 2001 Thunder Football (ages 7/8, 9, 10, 11 as of 11/20/00) season is underway. Deadline for open registration is May 5. Applications postmarked after May 5 will require an additional $25 to the applicable league fee and will be accepted on the condition that if no position is available in the correct division, your application will be rejected and all registration fees returned. Applications are available at the GC Recreation Office, St. Paul's or visit GCAA Thunder Football on the Internet for more information and to obtain a printable application at: http:www.gc-aa.com/football.htm. Registration is also being conducted at Olympic Den in Franklin Square. Call Tom Wright (354-8237) or Bill Manning (747-4803) with any questions. Four sessions will be held for all major league and under teams. All sessions will be held at St. Paul's, starting at 6 p.m. The session dates are Tuesday, April 24, Thursday, April 26, Tuesday, May 1, and Friday, May 4. Each team will be assigned a specific date/time for their photographs. The Opening Day Parade is April 21, starting at 9 a.m. Teams should congregate in the parking field behind 1001 Franklin Avenue (Federal Express) at least 15 minutes beforehand. The parade route will be south on Franklin Avenue to Seventh Street, west on Seventh Street to Hilton Avenue, north on Hilton Avenue to Stewart Avenue, then east on Stewart Avenue to the Gazebo for the throwing out of the "first pitch."

Friday, June 22, open to all players in the Central and Major Leagues. No separate registration is required.
