Overview of Capital Improvement Progress Presented at Board of Ed. Meeting
With the projects at Stewart and Stratford Elementary Schools nearly completed, hard construction on the middle school about to begin, and bids out on the high school, Jim Carney, from the ad hoc advisory committee on the district's capital improvement plan, presented an overview of where the projects currently stand at each of the schools at the most recent board of education meeting.

Appellate Court Orders Town to Look at Mall Expansion Proposal Again
Calling the Town of Hempstead Board of Zoning Appeals' 1999 decision not to allow Simon Properties to expand Roosevelt Field Mall even further beyond the allowable Floor Area Ration (FAR), "arbitrary and capricious," the Supreme Court of the State of New York Appellate Division: Second Judicial Department ordered the board to conduct an Environmental Conservation (SEQRA) review and reconsider the application.

Open registration for the 2001 Thunder Football (ages 7/8, 9, 10, 11 as of 11/20/00) season has begun. Deadline for open registration is May 5. Applications postmarked after May 5 will require an additional $25 to the applicable league fee and will be accepted on the condition that if no position is available in the correct division, your application will be rejected and all registration fees returned. Applications are available at the GC Recreation Office, St. Paul's or visit GCAA Thunder Football on the Internet for more information and to obtain a printable application at: http:www.gc-aa.com/football.htm.
