Public Hearing on Acquisition of Properties Set
The issue of whether or not the village would purchase 100 feet of 114 Sixth Street and the premises at 116 Eleventh Street was raised once more at last Thursday's village board meeting, in the wake of a public hearing being called for March 27 to consider the acquisition.

Judge Finds Against Village in St. Paul's Lawsuit
In a court battle that was begun over three years ago by four residents who claimed that the village's plan to lease a portion of the St. Paul's property for an assisted living facility was in violation of the stated intent of the village's purchase of the property, Judge John Burke found in favor of the plaintiffs.

Brantuk Competes for Hobart College
Junior defender James Brantuk, a graduate of Garden City High School, will compete for the Hobart College lacrosse team this season. The Statesmen, 7-7 in 2000, return 31 letterwinners. Hobart captured the Patriot League Championship last season, posting a 5-1 league record, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Bethany LeSueur Is Named 'Miss New York Basketball' for 2001
Bethany LeSueur of Garden City HS has been named the recipient of the 2001 "Miss New York Basketball" Award by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York, Inc. LeSueur was selected by a BCANY committee chaired by Gina Castelli, head coach at Siena College.
