Margaret Emma Alvey passed away on Feb. 2, 2001. Born in Brooklyn on Aug. 7, 1911, she was the widow of Maurice "Mickey" Alvey, mother of Robert Alvey and the late Maureen Prisco. She is survived by her son and his wife, Robert and Suzy Alvey, seven grandchildren and a great-grandson, Luca J. Prisco. A Garden City resident for over 40 years, Mrs. Alvey was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Radiant and Mineola Chapters, as well as the DOES. A memorial service was held March 4. A dedication of a tree in her honor is scheduled for April 29 at the Garden City Bird Sanctuary. Fred P. Odgers, of Garden City and Hampton Bays, died on Feb. 26, 2001. Son of Eleanor and the late Fred B. Brother of Janet McCarthy and her companion David Archer. Uncle of Lori, Kelly and Nancy McCarthy. Companion of Janice Wilmot. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Chapel, Garden City. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
