Jack "Jake" White, high school social studies teacher and sports statistician, has been honored by the New York State Athletic Administrators Association with a Distinguished Service Award. In addition, the Council of Administrators of Chapter 8 (Nassau County) has also recognized him with the Distinguished Service Award. This award is presented to a person, not an athletic administrator, who has made a significant contribution over the years to Athletics.

Jack White is a 1962 graduate of Garden City High School where he played baseball. He played one year of college baseball at Hofstra before transferring to CW Post. White also coached in Garden City for 16 years. His love of history and sports led him to research statistics in many sports. White researched longtime Garden City football coach Warren King's football record and thus began a long history of compiling information on all sports in Garden City and Nassau County.

In 1982, White compiled the record book of the Nassau County football coaches. He has also done the statistics for the soccer and lacrosse county records and has helped several schools research their own sports histories. In addition, every year he works 17 football games in eight days, meticulously taking the statistics for all games at the Nassau County football semi-finals, finals and the Long Island Championships.

In 1986, White compiled a Section VIII county record book, which was published by Section VIII. This book lists the record of all girls' and boys' sports in Nassau County. He has continued the records since 1986 although they have not been published. To show an example of his tireless dedication, he has taken statistics at every Garden City football game from 1966-2000. When anyone needs to know a record in Nassau County, they call Jack White.
