Village Parking Decision Process and Timeline Questioned
The village parking situation and the so-called "Houses for Parking" issue reared its head again at the most recent Garden City Board of Trustees meeting where the public questioned if the board would develop a timeline giving people notice as to when a decision would be made with regard to the parking study and residents of the homes and near the houses slated to be turned into parking lots asked the trustees to remember that families would be affected by their decision. The Garden City Chamber of Commerce asked the board to remember that there is a parking shortage, which they say is affecting the occupation of businesses in the community, thus pushing the burden of village taxes onto single family homes.

Friday Night Madness - January 19
On Friday night, Jan. 19, the Garden City Boys Basketball Team and Athletic Department is hosting a special spirit night. A fun night is planned with free promotional beach balls (donated by Athletes & Coaches Choice, Inc. - ACCI), half court 50-50 shooting contest, kickline show and other events. The athletic department will honor the Nassau County Championship Girls Swim Team, NY State Championship Baseball Team and the NY State Championship Girls Lacrosse Team!

If you've ever had the urge to try your hand (or feet) at some wild and wooly country style line dancin' and two-steppin', then this is the dance for you. The recreation department is presenting the great band "Six Gun" for your enjoyment at the annual Country Jamboree on Saturday Jan. 20. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cluett Hall, Six Gun will perform the best and most danceable songs around. To help get you moving to the music, the recreation department will even have country line instructors to help teach those belt loop grabbin' footloose country dances.
