A Look Back at the Last Year in Garden City
In February, the ground was broken at the elementary schools, for the work that was to begin on both Stratford and Stewart Schools as part of the district's capital improvement project. The work on both schools took longer than anticipated, which concerned many parents, whose children were attending classes while the construction was going on.

Chamber Recognizes Top 10 Holiday Windows
The chamber of commerce is pleased to acknowledge the 10 holiday-themed shop windows judged by a professional artist, representatives of the four property owners' associations and of the Garden City Historical Society, to be the most beautifully decorated in the central business district for the year 2000 holiday season. The Chamber's Shop Window Competition, a tradition for the past 22 years, began following the "energy crunch" of the late '70s, to encourage renewed interest in decorating the business districts for the holiday season.

Centennial Soccer Note
Although the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is upon us, it is not too early to start thinking about registration for boys' and girls' spring soccer. The Garden City Centennials offer intramural soccer for girls in grades Pre-K through 12th grade and for boys in grades Pre-K through sixth grade.
