On the next play, Bill Hannan scored the first touchdown of the game. A few plays later, with 15 seconds left in the first quarter, Wantagh came back to tie the score on an eight-yard pass play. At the end of the first quarter, the scoreboard read 7-7.
In the second quarter, with 8:06 left in the half, Kang scored on a three yard run. The kick failed and Garden City led 13-7. A few minutes later, on a busted play, the Warriors completed a 50-yard pass down field to set up their next touchdown, a one-yard run. The extra point was good and Wantagh led 14-13. Garden City came right back on a long scoring drive culminated by Hannan's second touchdown of the game, a six-yard run. The Trojans' offensive line was now starting to dominate the Wantagh defense. At the end of the half, the score was 19-14, GC.
In the third quarter the Garden City defense was able to pressure the Warriors' quarterback and effectively shut down the Wantagh offense. The Trojans offensive line continued to control the line of scrimmage and Garden City scored their fourth touchdown on a beautiful 50-yard keeper by quarterback Kang. Going into the fourth quarter, GC had a good lead of 26-14.
Hannan's third touchdown, and the last of the game, was made at the very end of the fourth quarter on an 11-yard run to make the final score Garden City 33, Wantagh 14.
Hannan finished the game off by running 175 yards on 21 carries. Garden City was now set to face undefeated North Babylon in the Long Island Championship game last Saturday, at Hofstra. This marked the seventh time that the Trojans competed in the Long Island Championship.
