"We are thrilled, as always, to have this wonderful 19-piece big band once again perform their wonderful repertoire of holiday melodies at our Tree Lighting, along with the Garden City High School Vocal Jazz Ensemble; stilt walker entertainer; and 'Kingsley Bear,' courtesy of Kings Supermarkets," said Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Althea Robinson.

Sponsored by Astoria Federal Savings, and coordinated by the Chamber of Commerce, the tree lighting will commence at 3:30 p.m. with refreshments for all donated by local shops and served by the Garden City Fire Department. Santa Claus will arrive on the fire department's sleigh/truck to assist Mayor Hal Hecken in the lighting of the three village trees which will be lit between the hours of 4 p.m. and 4 a.m. throughout the holiday season. For further information, call the chamber of commerce at 746-7724.
