With 9:12 left in the second quarter, Garden City took possession in Mepham territory as a result of a poor punt. With fourth down and two yards to go, Bill Hannan got the Garden City first down with a run behind Mark Gallucci and Pat O'Brien. Dan Oppedisano then scored on a 33 yard run behind the blocking of the left side of the GC line making the score 6-0 Trojans.
With 6:46 left in the third quarter, GC scored its second touchdown on an option play when quarterback Dave Kang pitched the ball to Bill Hannan who raced around the left end for the score. Garden City scored on a two-point conversion with Bill Hannan running the ball behind Mark Oppedisano and Scott Owen.
The Garden City's defense led by Scott Owen, Mark Oppedisano, Brendan Flanagan, Mike Cirrito, and company was holding the Mepham offense completely in check.
With 2:18 left in the third quarter, GC scored its final touchdown on a perfect Dave Kang to Chris Gumiela pass play covering 39 yards. Gumiela made a spectacular finger tip catch with his arms fully extended. Garvey kicked the extra point to make the score GC 21, Mepham 0.
Three minutes later GC stopped Mepham's final bid for a touchdown when Chris Gumiela forced a fumble on a completed pass play and Dan Flannery recovered sealing the GC win.
