The Garden City boys' football team played Levittown Division on Saturday, October 21. The Trojans were unscored upon with a final score of 24-0. Garden City's powerful defense and strong offense, led by quarterback Dave Kang, helped them claim the win.
Dan Oppedisano ran the ball well for Garden City, having the first touchdown in the first quarter. Oppedisano made a new record for the Trojans by having the longest run in Garden City history with 92 yards.
Oppedisano got injured on a play early in the second quarter but with a little time, he was back in the game helping his team overcome the Dragons. At the end of the first half Garden City had strong lead with a score of 7-0.
In the third quarter Sean Quailer had a 65-yard kick return to put Garden City on the Dragon's 9-yard line. Tom Garvey had a 17 yard field goal to make the score 10-0. Later in the quarter Kang connected to Mike Miller with a 43-yard pass, putting the Trojans on the Dragons 9-yard line.
The fourth quarter started with a touchdown for Garden City by Bill Hannan. A few plays later Dan Flannery scored Garden City's third touchdown, which was the last major play of the game.
Garden City's defense was led by the excellent tackling of Scott Owen, Sean Quailer, and Dan Oppedisano. Dave Kang played an amazing game, many long passes to his teammates.
