Last week the girls' high school varsity soccer team played an amazing game against New Hyde Park. As the underdog, they had a successful and surprising victory. Going up against the number one seeded team, the Trojans defeated New Hyde Park in a final score of 2-1.

Lead by Coach Mike Heedles, Garden City showed great team effort on and off the field. Many opportunities were created through a solid showing of the defensive backs. A great game was played by the goalkeeper, Tara McKennett, who showed excellent blocking skills. She had sixteen saves and let only one go by. Amy Appelt, a senior on the team, gave the squad the two goals that led the girls to their victory.

Coach Heedles was impressed with the team's playing and is confident that the girls will have a successful season. Garden City had a great performance and they hope it will continue.

Be sure to catch the girl's next game on Saturday, away, against VSN at 10AM. Good luck girls!
