Phyllis M. McDougal, of Garden City, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, stepmother and second mother to many, died on July 20, 2000 at the age of 73 after a brief illness. Born Mary Phyllis Veronica McCloy in Queens Village on June 9, 1927, Phyllis was one of the first woman graduates of Fordham University School of Law in 1949 where she met her first husband William C. O'Connor, who died in 1977. She enjoyed golfing and traveling and was a member of St. Anne's Parish and the Garden City Country Club.
Survived by her husband, Walter A. McDougal; her daughters, Mary O'Connor of San Rafael, CA, Eileen O'Connor of West Hempstead, Julia Kelly of Manhattan, Moira Murtagh of Hicksville; her sons. William O'Connor Jr. of Manhattan, Terrence O'Connor of Sacramento, CA, Edward O'Connor of Southampton, John O'Connor of Ipswich, MA and Thomas O'Connor of Garden City; her brothers, Dr. John P. McCloy of Melville and William J. McCloy of Englewood, FL; her stepchildren, Stephen, Walter and Paul McDougal, Nancy Witter and Dolores Scully, all of LI, Carol Cashman of Bismarck, ND and Mary Ann Shupe of Cary, NC; and 32 grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, New Hyde Park. Holy Mass celebrated at St. Anne's Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
