Hofstra's Celebrity Challenge Benefits Others
The Celebrity Challenge, presented by Hofstra University on July 15, which featured members of the cast and crew of One Life to Live, helped raise money for Hofstra Scholarships and Ronald McDonald House while giving fans of the ABC soap opera an opportunity to meet some of their favorite stars. Among those playing for the One Life to Live team was Garden City resident and Hofstra University graduate, Pamela Edmonds who plays Nurse Pam on the show.

Fighting the high costs of prescription drug prices may be an uphill battle, but the congresswoman vows something needs to be done, especially when it comes to senior citizens who may be jeapardizing their health because of the astronomical costs of prescription drugs. "Many seniors aren't taking their medication because they can't afford it," McCarthy said.

Recreation Department News
The Recreation Department Summer Concert Series continues on Thursday, July 27 at 7:15 p.m. with an evening of Big Band and Popular music, presented by Tom Wagner and The Village Musicmakers. The Village Musicmakers have been one of the most popular acts to perform at the Gazebo since their appearance at the initial Gazebo Concert in 1984.
