Residents Plead for Board to Keep Athletic Director
At their July 13 Board of Education Meeting, board members received numerous requests from teachers, faculty members, co-workers, parents, and students of Garden City to keep Athletic Director Nancy Kalafus in Garden City and to not let her leave to work in another district.

Michael Volpe Earns Fourth Varsity Letter in Baseball
Michael Volpe, who graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., May 28, and is a resident of Garden City, earned his fourth varsity letter in baseball at the college this past spring, head coach Peter Kostacopoulos announced. In addition, Volpe was named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) all-star second team and received the MacNaughten Award as the member of the Wesleyan baseball team who demonstrated outstanding ability.
