A reminder to residents that the board of trustees' schedule of meetings is modified during the summer months. Next month's meeting will be held on Thursday, July 13. The meeting for August is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 17.
Compliments are due to the Recreation Department for arranging this season's outstanding Concert Series at the Village Gazebo, located on the Village Green at the corner of Stewart and Hilton Avenues.
Next week's program is scheduled for Thursday, July 6, and will feature The Happenings - I've Got Rhythm, See You in September, Go Away Little Girl and other great tunes from the '60s.
The program will begin at 7:15 and admission is free. Please bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a very pleasant evening. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held at the Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cluett Hall at the St. Paul's School. Please contact the Recreation Program Line (742-5888) with questions pertaining to the concert.
There was no garbage and recycling pickup on Tuesday, July 4. The Western half of Village (west of Rockaway Avenue) will have garbage pickup on Monday and Friday and the eastern half of the village (east of Rockaway Avenue) will have garbage pickup on Wednesday and Saturday. There will be rubbish pickup on Thursday for the entire village. Residents scheduled for recycling on July 4 are asked to put their recyclables out on Tuesday, July 11. All other recycling days remain the same.
The Town of Hempstead Sanitation Department will conduct its monthly STOP (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) program on Saturday, July 8. The program, which is being held at various locations throughout the Town of Hempstead, will make hazardous waste facilities accessible to as many residents as possible.
Next Saturday's program will be held at the Market Lane Park Garage, Market Lane, Levittown. The hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Under the STOP program, residents are able to take polluting materials to the facility and have them disposed of by a registered professional disposal company, free of charge. The facility will not accept the following materials: Ammunition, Explosives, Radioactives, Infectious Waste and Gas Cylinders, Barbecue Tanks.
