Philip Puccio, of Garden City, died on June 15, 2000. Born in Manhattan in 1920, he grew up in Brooklyn. He attended St. John's University receiving his undergraduate degree and law degree. He joined the US Army Signal Corps and served in the European Theater as an intelligence officer during WWII. He was the recipient of a Bronze Star and he achieved the rank of captain.
Mr. Puccio practiced law independently. He was also a certified public accountant. He shared offices with his son Anthony in the EAB building in Garden City for 20 years. He was president of the Democratic Club of Maspeth and post commander of the Italian-American War Veterans of Queens during the 1960s.
Mr. Puccio is survived by his wife, Jennie (Campanella); his children, Anthony, John, Maryann Puccio of Garden City and Philip; four grandchildren; and his siter, Leonora Cavolina.
Arrangements were made by Fairchild & Sons Funeral Chapel, Garden City. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne's RC Church. Interment Roslyn Cemetery.
Maureen H. Saloy, of Garden City, died on June 20, 2000. Wife of Stephen. Mother of Brian and Gregory. Daughter of Viola Hand and the late Edwared McGowan. Sister of Dennis and James McGowan and the late Patricia McGowan and Joan Jankiewitz. Also survived by stepbrothers and sisters. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Chapel, Garden City. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
