Cost of Parking Study Raises Questions at Village Board Meeting
An item on the consent calendar at the June 15 village board meeting, amending the contract for the parking consultants Buckhurst, Fish & Jacquemart, to allot an additional $11,500 for the study, raised questions from several residential and commercial property owners.

Village Clerk Joan Gallaer Retires After 22 Years
Gallaer began working in Garden City in 1978, originally serving as secretary to the village administrator. In 1985 she was appointed as deputy village clerk and then in 1995 she was appointed village clerk. During that time period Gallaer went back to school, attending Nassau Community College and then Adelphi, graduating with a business degree from Adelphi in 1989.

Tornadoes Rise to the Occasion
On Saturday, June 10, the Garden City Tornadoes (Girls U-13 soccer) presented their finest display of teamwork to date, defeating the New Hyde Park Lady Cougars by a score of 1-0. It was 96 degrees at the manicured Long Island Soccer Park in Plainview where the occasional breeze was greatly appreciated. The New Hyde Park team had been undefeated until this time making the Tornado victory even sweeter.
