Marjorie H. Fleisig, a resident of Garden City for more than 40 years, died on April 26, 2000, at age 76 after a long illness borne with courage and dignity. Mrs. Fleisig grew up in Forest Hills and graduated from Adelphi University with a bachelor or arts degree. While at Adelphi, she did her practice teaching at Garden City Junior High School and served as a subsitute.
She married Ross Fleisig, an aeronautical engineer, after graduation. Moving to Connecticut, she became a teacher in Bridgeport. The Fleisig family then moved to Dallas, TX, where her husband's aircraft company had relocated. In 1950 the family moved back to LI and settled in Garden City. Over the years they had temporary homes in Dallas, TX; Cocoa Beach, FL; Houston, TX; and Baden-Wuertenberg, Germany, but always returned to Garden City which they considered home.
In 1986 Mrs. Fleisig became vice president of Therus Dynamics Inc., an aerospace consultancy started by her husband. She was a member of the Garden City Community Church and in several organizations here including the American Association of University Women, the Community Club, the Community Church Auxiliary, the Daughters of the American Revoluntion and the International Women. She is listed in Who's Who of American Women.
She is survived by her husband, their two daughters, Ann Machlin of Binghamton, NY, and Dale Gallis of Shoreham, NY and two grandchildren, Russell and Thea Gallis.

A memorial service will be held on May 7 at 2 p.m. at the Garden City Community Church, Stewart Ave. and Whitehall Blvd., Garden City.
