The annual village election will be held on Tuesday, March 21, from noon until 9 p.m. at the Village Hall, 351 Stewart Avenue. At this time, village residents will be voting for the following candidates:
Robert H. Lewis, trustee, two-year term
Peter A. Bee, trustee, two-year term
Barbara K. Miller, trustee, two-year term
Brian Murray, trustee, two-year term
Since the incorporation of the village in 1919, members of the board of trustees in Garden City have been elected by a non-partisan vote of residents in accordance with the policies of the community agreement.
Your appearance at the polls will reflect more than support for the individual candidate - it will be an indication of confidence in the kind of volunteer government which distinguishes Garden City.
Those persons registered to vote in the state and national elections are eligible to vote in the general village election.
A reminder that the 2000 census is less than two months away. The US Bureau of the Census will be delivering questionnaires to households beginning mid-March. An accurate census is vital for our community as this data is used to determine funding for transportation, schools, hospitals and many other programs. The best way to ensure accuracy is by participation in this national event.
I am, therefore, urging all residents to take the time to complete this most important questionnaire.
If you have any questions or would like more information, you may call the Bureau of the Census at (518) 474-4288.
