Georgetown University sophomore attack Erin Elbe (Garden City) has been selected to LaxPower magazine's Division I Women's Pre-Season All-Americans list for the 2000 season. It marks the first time that LaxPower has selected Women's All-Americans Teams for Division I, II and III.
Elbe recorded a sensational freshman season in 1999 and for her efforts was named to the 1999 South Region Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/Brine All-America Second Team. She was second on the 1999 team in scoring with 47 goals and 12 assists for 59 points. The 47 goals tied her for fourth place on GU's all-time leaders list for most goals in a single season, while her 59 points tied her for sixth place on the all-time list for most points in a single game. Elbe is tied for 10th on the GU single season all-time assist leaders list and she occupies the 15th spot in most goals in a career. Elbe had her best game this season against Towson on March 31, 1999 when she scored a career-best seven goals en route to a 13-7 Georgetown victory. Elbe finished the 1999 season in 26th place (2.76) on the NCAA Statistical Leaders list in assists per game.
The Georgetown women's lacrosse team, under the direction of Head Coach Kim Simons, had an outstanding campaign in 1999. GU, ranked seventh in the nation in the IWLCA/Brine Top 20 Poll released May 2, posted a final record of 11-6 and gained a second-consecutive post-season berth to the NCAA Women's lacrosse Tournament. The Hoyas made it to the quarterfinals after posting their first NCAA Tournament win over #9 North Carolina on May 5. GU fell to #1, and five-time defending national champion, Maryland on May 8, 1999.
