The Planning Commission will be conducting its next regular meeting on March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The commission's consultant, George Jacquemart of Buckhurst, Fish and Jacquemart, Inc., will present his findings and obtain input from those present.
Copies of Buckhurst, Fish and Jacquemart's findings have been sent to all the Property Owners Associations, the Chamber of Commerce and are on file in the Reference Section of the Public Library.
Speeding within Garden City will not be tolerated.
A subject often addressed at Property Owners Association Meetings is resident concern over vehicular speeds within residential areas of our village and the observation that vehicles are exceeding the 30 mph village-wide limit and the 20 mph limit within school zones. I want to assure our residents that violations will not be tolerated and that the police department's strict speed enforcement will continue.
It is most disconcerting to note that many of those who violate our speed limits are our neighbors - residents of Garden City.
Please, in the interest of public safety, be mindful of the responsibility that each of us has as an operator of a motor vehicle.
While residents are most aware that our police department's average response time to emergencies is within two minutes, they will also be pleased with the department's productivity during the past calendar year.
