Ping pong, nok hockey, table golf, and bumper pool will be among the many fun activities at the Seventh Grade Recreation Night to be held on Friday, Feb. 11 in the St. Paul's Field House from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Music will be provided by a D.J. Admission is $4, payable at the door. Refreshments will be sold for a nominal charge.

Parents Please Note: To avoid problems with youngsters roaming around outside rather than entering the building, the Recreation Department asks that parents wait until they see their children enter the building before driving away. Those inside will not be permitted to leave until 10:30 p.m. when the event is over.

Additionally, no one will be permitted to enter the building after 8:30 p.m. unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Likewise, parents wishing to pick up their children early must do so in person.

Garden City Residents have again been afforded the privilege of using Lake Cornelia (Hubbell's Pond) for ice skating. There will be skating on the pond only when the ice has been tested and confirmed safe, which will be indicated by the posting of the traditional "Red Ball" by the entrance gate on Stewart Avenue, across from the middle school.

The Recreation Department reminds our residents that they are not to use the Garden City Golf Club's driveway or parking lot to access the skating area. The driveway and parking lot are restricted for the use of club members only.

When the "Red Ball" is displayed, skating hours will be as follows:

* Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult after sundown

* Heaters will be operated only in designated areas

* Ice Hockey may be played only in designated areas.

Early registration for the 2000 season has come to an end. All applications received now will be subject to a late registration fee. Because of the team registration deadlines issued by the Nassau County PAL, no applications will be accepted after Feb. 1.

Please make sure that a copy of the child's birth certificate be provided with the application. Cost of the program includes uniforms for each player. Grades 3 to 6 cost $75 and grades 7 and 8 cost $92 (not including the late fee). The fee includes United States Lacrosse Membership.
