Greetings from the lovely little state of Rhode Island, from a former Long Islander.
I am currently working on my family's genealogy, and am trying to obtain information about, and possible photographs from the Garden City Athletic Club, specifically the "AshCans" baseball league. My husband's late grandfather, Edward Gorry, was reported to be a member of this organization, probably in the late 1910s, perhaps through the 1940s.
I would also be interested in obtaining any photographs or information pertaining to the Garden City Fire Department, especially those pertaining to its founding and the fatal Fire Department accident in March 1960.
Any suggestions or help you or your readers might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

I happened upon information about plantings in Garden City on your website during a net search for seedlings as a class project involving the study of water, plant life, and the environment.
If at all possible, I would sincerely appreciate any information from your readers concerning the availability of seedlings for our school.
Sincerest thanks for your time.

We have all been moved to compassion when viewing the pictures of malnourished, starving children in war-torn, strife-ridden countries around the world.
This year the United Nations Children's Fund is celebrating its 53rd year. It is being supported through the sponsorship of the American Association of University Women, Garden City Branch, under my chairmanship. Members of AAUW assume responsibility for the distribution and collection of UNICEF boxes with the permission of the Garden City Public Schools.
UNICEF is supported entirely by contributions. When the wonderfully smiling faces appear at your door, many will be coming with additional accoutrement, the UNICEF box. So, please be prepared with monetary donations, as well as goodies. Your contributions do make a difference.
1999 marks the 30th year of our Branch's endeavor for UNICEF. We are honored to participate in such a worthy cause.
If no goblins come to your house this Halloween, please send your checks made out to UNICEF to:

Let us show our children that we care for those in such great need.
