Recently the Garden City Tornadoes enjoyed a glorious victory over the Merrick Starzz. They couldn't have done it without their fantastic coaches: Gerry Oakes, assisted by Buddy Gardner, Charlie Piscopo and Mike Hartigan.

Tornadoes enjoy a well-deserved treat after their win.

Early in the game an enthusiastic Carrie Long scored the first goal, assisted by her friend and teammate, Katie Gardner. Katie Rose, Kara Kelly, Amanda LeSueur, Claire Hartigan, Krista Tenaglia and Mary Clare Oakes displayed their tremendous talents in the defense department. They all played together, protected the goal and supported the forward lines.

Nicole Diller astonished the crowd with two breakaways and showed excellent passing and dribbling skills. Three-quarters through the first half the Merrick Starzz scored n unstoppable goal, tying the score 1-1.

In the last few moments of the first half, Ann Kemen came to the rescue by scoring a beautiful goal, assisted by Long, giving the Tornadoes the lead once more.

During the second half, Montse Caccamo was all over the field acting as the team's secret weapon, while Krystie Piscopo was making effective plays and assuring the ball would stay in the offensive zone.

Ann Kemen scored her second goal of the day assisted by Katie Gardner, her second assist.

Brigid Moore and Amanda Russo played a very aggressive game, which contributed to the Tornadoes spunk.

Janie Burke and Janine Lind made fantastic plays as forwards, keeping the ball in the opponents end of the field.

The team's goalies, Nicole Perrotta and Kara Kelly, on whom the Tornadoes depend so much, stayed calm and collected during exciting play in their end.

The final score was 3-1, Garden City Tornadoes. A very talented team enjoyed a much deserved win.
