  • NEWS: Kenny Delivers Speech on St. Paul's and CareMatrix in Village Hall

    James N. Kenny, who is suing the Village to prevent it from being able to lease St. Paul's to a private entity, attended the last Board of Trustees' meeting on Oct. 7 and used his time during the citizens' comments portion at the close of the meeting to address the lawsuit and depositions being taken currently by his attorney, Michael Ciaffa. Ciaffa had deposed Bernie Plant of CareMatrix that day and Kenny opted to share his perception of the testimony given in the deposition with the trustees and the Village. FULL STORY

  • NEWS: Bids on Village Hall Work Come in Over Budget Again

    The Village Board of Trustees voted to reject all bids from both the July 22 and Aug. 25 bid openings for the renovation of Village Hall building, as they all came in over the bonded amount. Mayor Hal Hecken stated that the bids were nearly half a million dollars over the bond budget. Village staff requested authorization to restructure the project to reduce the expenses and then rebid it, which was granted. The mayor also appointed a committee, to be led by Trustee Kettner, to examine the project with Village staff to cut costs and do the renovations without bonding for more. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Garden City Tornadoes Capture Big Win

    Early in the game an enthusiastic Carrie Long scored the first goal, assisted by her friend and teammate, Katie Gardner. Katie Rose, Kara Kelly, Amanda LeSueur, Claire Hartigan, Krista Tenaglia and Mary Clare Oakes displayed their tremendous talents in the defense department.
