The Big Picture
Nassau County is currently seeking federal funds (close to half a million dollars) for a Major Investment Study (MIS) for the area of Nassau County termed the HUB. According to an explanation of this process by the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council, "...the Plan identifies needs for the transit and highway systems that are already included in the operators' capital needs documents and capital plans. The MIS projects are the next step in addressing those needs."

From Here to There
The owner of the home located on the north side of the intersection of 11th St. and Carteret has proposed moving his house -- not moving from his house, but actually moving the house itself -- from the middle of his property forward and slightly closer to the corner to allow his property to be subdivided. According to Superintendent of Building Mike Filippon of the Village of Garden City, the relocating of the house and subdivision of the property from one to three parcels is all conforming with the zoning codes for the Village, and thus is considered an "as of right" subdivision.

Tomahawks Take Second Place
The Garden City Tomahawks (boys U-11) soccer team battled the sun and heat to bring home the second place title at the East Meadow Refuel Tournament on Aug. 28 and 29.

Our indoor season is scheduled to begin on Sept. 30 so we do need to begin the preparation process to enclose our courts immediately after Labor Day. Therefore, the outdoor courts at Community Park have now closed for the season.
