The third annual in-house Sparring Tournament was held at Master Charles Water's Hwang Karate Studio recently. Sparring (martial arts confrontation skills used for self defense) is a great way for students to put into action their technical skills while exercising their discipline.

This competition provided students with the opportunity to demonstrate the proficiency that they have developed through their training, exhibiting both their physical and mental finesse. There were 100 competitors, children, teens and adults.

It is our belief that everyone who participates in a competition is a winner. When a person enters a tournament they are "on a quest to do their best." This is a challenge builder and a challenge that is only taken on by the leaders of today and tomorrow.

The winners from Garden City were: Kenny Ronzetti; Joseph Truzzolino; Hector DeMarchena; Matthew Mezeul; Christopher Burcheri; Billy Buck; Alexander Ortiz; and Anthony Truzzolino.
