Garden City's Robert Reeves has been selected to play on the Long Island High School Athlete's for St. Mary's basketball team in the 1999 Benefit Basketball Game with the NY Jets. The game will be held on Saturday, May 8 at 4 p.m. at Nassau Community College and will raise much needed funds for the programs of St. Mary's Children and Family Services.
High School players were selected based on athletic skills, academic achievements and commitment to community service. All of the players were chosen because they are positive role models for the disadvantaged youth of St. Mary's, many of whom will attend the game.
Bob Reeves is an honor student and three-sport athlete. In the fall this 6 ft. 6 in., 275 lb. OT/DT received All-State, All-County and Academic All-Conference honors in football.
In the winter Bob received All-Conference honors in basketball. This spring Bob is on the track team throwing the shot put and discus. Next year, Bob will be attending and playing football at Dartmouth College.
Please come and give support to your local student athlete while raising money for a worthy cause.
The event will be packed with activities for students and children - entertainment, raffles, give-aways and autographs will be signed. The match-up between the NY Jets and the High School Athletes promises to make this year's game one of the most exciting.
All of the proceeds will benefit St. Mary's Children and Family Services, a non-profit, non-sectarian agency caring for abused, neglected and troubled children and families in crisis. St. Mary's, founded in 1894 by the Sisters of Mercy, cares for more than 800 children from all walks of life from Nassau and Suffolk Counties as well as the metropolitan area.
Student tickets are only $5, while general admission tickets are $12 and VIP tickets are $22.
