Young adult volunteers are needed for the 1999 Teens and Tots Storytime, a program sponsored by the Garden City Public Library and the Garden City Pool. This program consists of young adults conducting informal storytimes for children at the Garden City Pool on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 2-3 p.m. in July and the first week of August. Participants must attend two training sessions at the Garden City Public Library in order to become storytellers.
Young adults (entering grades 6-12 as of September 1999) who are interested may register in the Young Adult Department beginning Saturday, May 1. Anyone who has already taken the training sessions in past years need not take them again but must still register for this summer's program.
The schedule of training sessions is as follows:
Session I: Thursday afternoon, May 20, from 4-5:30 p.m. or Monday evening, May 24, from 7-8:30 p.m. (choose one session).
Session II: Thursday afternoon, June 3 from 4 - 5:30 p.m. or Mionday evening. June 7 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. (choose one session)
Effort will be made to accommodate interested young adults unable to make these training sessions through possible make-up sessions. Contact the Young Adult Librarian, Laura Hoffman, at 742-8405, or stop by the library for a flier and more details of the program.
