Garden City High School students for the second consecutive year took top honors for fund raising for the Nassau County AHRC Foundation Walkathon to benefit children and adults with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. Students from the German Honor Society and the Key Club joined to raise the most money of any high school group.
They were honored recently at AHRC's headquarters in Brookville where they were presented with a plaque and given the trophy to display for another year.
Nassau AHRC is a nonprofit, membership organization that provides comprehensive programs and services for 2,000 children and adults with developmental disablities on a daily basis. It is celebrating 50 years of fulfilling the promise of providing free and dignified living opportunities for all individuals.
