  • NEWS: Maureen O'Gara Wins Best Actor Award at Festival

    Four students from Garden City High School participated in the 50th Annual Hofstra University Shakespeare Festival Scene Competition under the direction of Theater Arts teacher Laura Rebecca. Senior Cristina Krener, juniors Jessica Kulesa and Maureen O'Gara, and sophomore Diane Jenkins performed a scene from Much Ado About Nothing. O'Gara, who played Hero, took home the award for Best Actor. Garden City Life spoke with O'Gara about her success and her work in theater groups in the community. FULL STORY

  • NEWS: Another Star Is Born With Release of Tom Humbert's Debut Album

    Garden City resident Tom Humbert has many reasons to celebrate these days. His wife Lisa gave birth to the couple's beautiful baby girl, Joanna Marie, on March 13, and the beginning of May will bring the release of his brand new and first-ever CD in The Wiz, Tower Records, Barnes & Noble, and religious goods stores throughout the country, as well as several live performances here in the NY Metropolitan area.   • SPORTS: Garden City High School Students Win AHRC Walkathon Award

    Garden City High School students for the second consecutive year took top honors for fund raising for the Nassau County AHRC Foundation Walkathon to benefit children and adults with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. Students from the German Honor Society and the Key Club joined to raise the most money of any high school group. FULL STORY
