The known "hotbeds" of Boys High School Lacrosse are Long Island, Baltimore, and Upstate NY. Following last year's Battle of the Sound series, Fairfield County, Connecticut proved that their high schools belong in this elite group. Connecticut won last year's series 4-3 with exciting wins by Wilton, Darien and Brunswick. This win has only fueled the drive by Long Island high school lacrosse players to defeat Connecticut this year and has escalated the intensity of the rivalry between teams on each side of the Long Island Sound.

The excitement begins on Saturday, April 17. At 11 a.m. Lynbrook will play in Wilton, CT. Chaminade will host FairField Prep at 1 p.m. Garden City will compete against Darien High at New Canaan High School in CT at 3 p.m. Manhasset High School will play at New Canaan at 5:15 p.m. On Saturday, May 15 Wilton will play St. Anthony's at noon and Brunswick will play at Stony Brook at 7 p.m.

To attend the Garden City game, take Interstate 95 northbound to Exit 10 - Darien/Noroton Heights and turn left off the exit onto Noroton Avenue. At the second light, turn right onto Middlesex Road. Follow Middlesex for three miles (passing Darien Community Center and St. Thomas Moore Church). Turn right at the stop sign, which will continue the drive on Middlesex Road. At the next stop sign, turn left onto Mansfield Road -- Route 124. Follow Mansfield Road into New Canaan. Cross over the Merritt Parkway and enter New Canann, and note that the road changes names to South Avenue -- Route 124. At the next traffic light, turn left onto Farm Road. The high school is on the left.

For more information, call Coach Dougherty at Garden City High School, or the host school for the match, New Canaan High School, at 203-972-4436.
