Portledge 10th-grader Margaret Beaumont Bolter of Garden City has been enjoying some recent victories in her chosen sport of horseback riding. In December 1998, Bolter was awarded the Year-End Overall Champion-Robert Hoskins Junior Medal by the Long Island High Score Award Association. This followed a year of consistent wins in the Hugh Cassidy Junior McClay Class, as well as the championship in the Children's Hunter Class Reserve at The Hampton Classic.

Bolter is already off to a good start in 1999, having become the Children's Hunter Reserve Champion at the Littlewood Horse Show in Wellington, FL. All of her recent wins have been while riding "Zazar," owned by Little Brook Farm, Ithaca, NY. Her trainer is Ann Aspinall of the Topping Riding Club.
