On Sunday, March 7 residents are invited to enjoy an afternoon filled with the sights and sounds of the Petri School of Irish Dancing performed live on stage at the Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cluett Hall.
Beginning at 2 p.m., the dancers will perform Lord Thomond's Crown, and a selection of other dances, including an original piece performed to music from Lord of the Dance. After intermission, there will be an additional period of audience instruction and participation.
The Petri School of Irish Dancing is one of the leading Irish Dance Schools in the metropolitan area, and their troupe of over 300 dancers has performed at numerous venues, including the Rosie O'Donnell Show, Sesame Street, ABC News, and at Carnegie Hall.
Admission to the show will be $4 per person, which will include hot dogs, soda, and chips during intermission. Advance reservations are required for this show, and may be made by calling the Recreation Office at 742-5800 during business hours by Thursday, March 4.
The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club has announced that they are accepting registration forms for the Spring 1999 Soccer Season. Programs will be available for all girls entering Kindergarten in Sept. 1999 through Grade 8, and boys entering Kindergarten in Sept. 1999 through Grade 6. No try-outs are held, any child who wants to play will be placed on a team and guaranteed playing time of at least half of each game.
Registration forms can be picked up at the Recreation Office in the Village Hall, at Cluett Hall, and at the Garden City Soccer Shop. Formal registration will also be held on Saturday, Feb. 27 in Cluett Hall from 9 a.m. to noon. The final registration date for the Spring season is Monday, March 1.

For an evening of tennis fun, come down to one of the Recreation Department's Mixed Doubles Tennis Parties. The next party is scheduled for Saturday, March 6 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The cost for the evening is $30 per couple, which includes 2 hours of court time, balls, round robin play, snacks and refreshments. There is a limit of 12 couples, so sign up early.

The Recreation Department has announced that the final day for Pool Interviews will be Saturday, March 13.
Challenging, enjoyable positions are available at the Garden City Pool. Anyone who enjoys being outdoors, and is willing to make the commitment to a team that works hard to provide quality programs for the residents of Garden City, should consider contacting the Recreation Department. Competitive salaries, friendly working conditions, opportunity for advancement, and the chance to be part of a special team are offered.
High school juniors or older students who are ready to make a commitment for a great summer job should stop in the Recreation Office in Village Hall and pick up an application and schedule an appointment for an interview.
Reminder: Even if employed by the Recreation Department last year, all interested must re-apply and be interviewed for the coming summer. Only pool interviews will be conducted for the final time on Saturday, March 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. No interviews will be conducted without an appointment and no positions will be offered to applicants who do not interview.

A night of dancing and romancing to the best of the Big Band and popular music will be made possible by the Recreation Department and the outstanding sounds of the Mike Carubia Orchestra. On Saturday, Feb. 27 beginning at 7:30 p.m., residents can re-live the swinging sounds that captured the hearts of a generation.
The Mike Curubia Orchestra has played many times at Gazebo Concerts, and at previous dances, and always delights the audience with their energetic performances. At 9 p.m. there will be a full sit-down dinner, served family style, complete with coffee and desert, followed by more music and dancing. This whole package is available to you for just $20 per person, which also includes sodas and snacks.

A supervised trip to the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus at the Nassau Coliseum on Saturday, March 20 for the 11 a.m. performance. Tickets are normally $22.50, but these tickets are discounted to $20, which includes bus transportation to and from the show. The bus will leave Village Hall at 10:15 a.m. and return immediately following the show. Supervision will be provided by members of the Recreation Department Staff.
Tickets are also on sale for the Thursday, March 18, 7:30 p.m. performance. These regularly priced $22.50 tickets are discounted to $19 for this show. There is no bus transportation for this particluar show.
All tickets must be paid for in cash only. Last day of sale for these tickets will be Wednesday, March 3.
