Ernest Hester, of Garden City, died on Nov. 13, 1998. Husband of the late Helen. Father of Tim. Father-in-law of Barbara. Grandfather of Peter, Jennifer and Aimee. Brother of Conrad. Arrangements were made by the Weigand Bros. Funeral Home, Williston Park. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Annmarie H. Watson, a resident of Garden City since 1940, died Dec. 16, 1998 at Winthrop-University Hospital. She was 91 at the time of her death.

An outstanding student, she was a graduate of Columbia University School of Journalism and was a member of the Women's Press Club. She was married to James Francis Watson, a retired Wall Street attorney, who died in 1995.

She is survived by her son James R. Watson, an assistant district attorney in Nassau County; her daughter Annmarie Alexander of Stowe, VT; and her granddaughters Kirsten and Shauna Alexander of Portland, OR.
